Legends of the succubus and incubus go way back to medevil times. They are thought to have originated from the story of ancient demons, who were the daughters of the Greek Goddess Hectate. The succubi are thought to take the form of beautiful women, who will go to bed with men in order to suck the life force from them, and eventually kill them. The Incubi are the male form of this type of evil entity. However, the Incubi are thought to have intercourse with women in order to spawn more Incubi.

These creatures are said to appear as regular humans, although some have the ability to shape shift into different creatures. The genitals of these evil beings are said to be extremely cold, like ice. Food is not necessary to these creatures, because they feed off of the sexual acts that they perform on humans. Some will feed off of both men and women, while others prefer to stick specifically to the opposite sex.

Like other demonic creatures, these entities have an aversion to all things holy. The sound of prayer to them is almost unbearable, comparable to the sound of fingernails scratching a chalkboard. Holy water can leave horrific burns on their “flesh” and too much of it can result in their death. Since this is the case, the only real way to destroy these creatures is through exorcism.
Interestingly enough, the blood of these creatures is similar to a drug for humans, and ingesting it can lead to a number of drug like effects. Depending on the individual drinking the blood, this can lead to either a really really good trip, or a horrific one.

Some of the effects of drinking Incubi blood include a feeling of overwhelming euphoria, enhanced senses, a strong sense of mental clarity and inner peace and an increase of physical energy. Like any drug, however, the blood of the Incubi has negative side affects as well. These include but are not limited to lockjaw, memory loss, teeth grinding and restlessness.

Also, be warned that the come- down or withdrawel from the ingestion of Incubi blood can lead to extreme mood swings or depression. Heavy or frequent use may precipitate lasting depression and anxiety in vulnerable users, particularly those prone to depression or other mental disorders as well as anyone in a state of crisis in their life.

So if you happen to come across an Incubi, remember, exoricim is key to their destruction. Crosses, holy water and prayer are their weaknesses. And no matter what, do not, I repeat, do not drink Incubi blood.

What is EVP?

EVP is a very common term in the ghost hunting industry. If you are not a paranormal investigator, but have watched shows like Ghost Hunters or Paranormal State, I'm sure that you are familiar with the term as well. I'm also sure that there are some that still aren't entirely sure what EVP is.

EVP or Electronic Voice Phemomena is an event where the disembodied voice of a spirit is thought to be recorded amongst radio station noise and other electronic media. They are most often recorded using an audiotape recorder.

EVPs are never detected while the actual recording is taking place. Only when playing the tape back do you have a chance of catching something interesting. Some EVP's are clear as day and very easily understood, while others may have to be amplified and filtered to hear these voices. Most EVP's are one word, short sentences or grunts and moans depending on the strength of the spirit that may have been trying to communicate with you.

There are three different levels of EVP recordings that I am going to discuss right now.

A Class A recording is the loudest and clearest of the three different EVP types. This type is very distinct amongst the static noise, and very easily understandable.

A Class B EVP is the most common type of EVP. These are usually characterized by warping of the voice in certain syllables. Lower in volume or more distant sounding than Class A.

A Class C EVP is the most difficult to understand out of the three different types. This type of recording is the lowest and volume and is characterized by excessive warping.

One of the most interesting things about recording EVP's is the fact that sometimes it seems that the spirit you are trying to communicate with is answering your questions directly. Remember, however, that you will not hear any responses until you play the recording back.

Do Aliens Exist?

Everyone at some point, has probably found themselves gazing up at the heaven's and wondering " Are we alone?" We've all heard stories of alien and UFO's visiting our planet, but these stories just leave us with more questions than we had in the first place. Are aliens real? If they are, what do they want from us? Are they friend or foe?

Thousands of people all over the world have reported UFO sightings, and actual alien encounters. So with such large numbers, is it really possible that they're all simply imagining things? Consider this. Ever since the beginning of time, there have been these types of sightings. The Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Maya worshipped what they thought of as Sky Gods, Beings that came from the sky in order to help our people.

Most people, scientists included, believe that there is no way that we are the only intelligent species in our universe, and are in the process of searching for intelligent life on other planets as I sit here writing this today. The real question is, whether or not we're being visited by extraterrestrials. If we are, who are they? What do they want from us? Are they merely as curious about us as we are about them?

Until there is solid proof, we can only collect the evidence, and hope that we can discover whether or not aliens exist. Until then, check out some of the upcoming evidence and witness accounts and decide for yourself.

BEK's or Black Eyed Kids

Creepy Black Eyed Kid

Okay, this legend seems to be popping up more and more lately, so I figured I would do a blog piece about it. I first heard about BEK's or Black Eyed Kids while watching one of my favorite web series, and since then, I haven't been able to get the idea out of my mind.

While doing some research on the topic I came across a warning. The warning basically stated that these Black Eyed Kids are extremely dangerous creatures, and to not pursue the subject any further. By doing so, the warning continued, I'd be drawing lots of unwanted attention. Needless to say, this really peaked my interest.

For those of you not familiar with the legend, Black Eyed Kids are essentially child like creatures with coal black eyes and no irises or pupils. There have been claims of Black Eyed Children arriving on doorsteps or greeting people while they are still in their vehicle begging to be let in. Creepy stuff right?

The warning I mentioned earlier also says that if you have an encounter with one of these entities, you should not look them in the eye, touch them (why would you do that?) or allow them into your house.

One story of the Black Eyed Kids that keeps popping up everywhere is that of a journalist named Brian Bethel in 1998. Bethel claims that while sitting in his car, he was approached by two young boys, not quite teenagers. At first glance, Bethel said, they looked perfectly normal. The kids then asked Bethel for a ride home, claiming that they were going to the movies, but had left their money at home.

Bethel says that he immediately felt a sense of danger upon meeting these kids, but was still tempted to allow them into the car. However, he ignored the temptation and again refused to allow them into the vehicle, which only angered them further. They became more aggressive, and that's when Bethel noticed that their eyes were black as coals.

Another account of BEK's that I found rather interesting was that of a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His claim is that he was watching a movie when he heard a knock on his door. Thinking it was his roomate that somehow got locked out, he immediately got up to open it.

Instead of his roomate, however, he found two young kids standing in the walkway. Upon seeing these children, he instantly felt the same sense of danger that was reported by Bethel. He also claimed that these kids, too had pitch black eyes, and that he couldn't take his eyes off of them. He said that those eyes felt like they were sucking him in. Finally, he closed the door and locked it.

Shortly after he began to hear a soft knocking sound, and rattling at his windows like they were trying to get in, and then, silence.

As with most stories of black eyed people, they often ask to come in. They do not try to barge in and they do not threaten. They simply seem to need their targets to allow them into their homes. But why? What would happen if they were allowed inside? Who are these black eyed creatures? Are they Jin/ Alien hybrids like some believe? And if they are, what do they want?

Afterlife- The belief that the human soul or spirit survives after it leaves the body from cause of death. How the spirit survives will depend on which culture you are referring to.

All Hollows Eve(Halloween) - This day of dressing up in costumes and passing out candy on October 31st started out as a pagan festival of the dead. This night is still believed by many to be the night when spirits, demons, and other supernatural beings are at their strongest.

Angels - In Christian belief, angels are Gods messengers, and protectors of mankind. Angels are creatures between God and man that work as intervenor's.

Apparition - A paranormal related, visual appearance of a dead person, living person, or beast. For more information, visit the Apparitions page.

Automatic writing- A form of writing that is done when a persons conscience is in a spiritual state and their writings origin is of the messages of spirits from another dimension. The person writing obtains the information through the help of ESP.

Banshee - An omen spirit of Ireland an Scotland that are always female. She appears to warn of a future death in a family. Mostly in family's thats surnames start with "O" or "Mac". It is said that the Banshee appears flying and of course singing as banshees are also well known for.

Channeling - Communication of automatic writing or speech with all kinds of spiritual beings or even with a Higher self. It is achieved by being in a trance of some kind.

Clairvoyance - The paranormal sight of things, people, or events which is a form of ESP (extrasensory perception) . for more go to the ESP page.

Demons- Both evil and good spirits that can and do intervene with mankind. Demons are also defined as the workers of Satan's will, tempting humans to sin against God.

Doppelganer(Double) - A mystical double or copy of the person who sees it. This phenomena is usually to scale of the person it's copying but a lot of the time just the face, head, and body are viewed.

Ectoplasm - A strange, paranormal material that flows out of any orifice and opening of a mediums body during a seance, or contact with the dead.

EVP(Electronic Voice Phenomena) - The recording of spirit voices on audio tape.

Exorcism - The removal of a demon, ghost, or other spiritual being from the body of a human being.

Ghost - A spirit of a deceased human or animal that remains on earth.

Ghost Hunting - The investigation or search of ghosts, poltergeists, apparitions, or any other paranormal activity for fun, science, or ghost removal.

Gray ladies- These are ghosts that are gray in color and are of deceased, usually noble women that had died or have been killed violently in relations to love or are searching for their lost love.

Haunting- A location repeatedly experiencing the presence of a ghost or spirit.

Ideoplasty-The theory that sitters in a seance can effect the occurring phenomena by unknowingly sending their thoughts and expectations of what will happen to the medium. The medium will then create what was expected by the group.

Imprint - Apparitions of people and things of the past that are made up of energy that exists in the area of activity. Imprints are not actually conscience of themselves and their surrounding's, unlike an actual spirit or ghost.

Materialization - The formation of either an entire spirits body or only parts of a spirits body. Materialization can happen during a seance or in some other situation.

Medium - One who communicates with human and non human spirits.

Necromancy- To conjure or summon up the spirits of the dead for purposes such as prophecy, divination, or other things associated with magic. Necromancy is done by magicians, sorcerers, witchs, and priests.

OBE(Out of Body Experience) - When a persons soul, or spirit leaves their body from just a few feet away, to as far as other worlds or dimensions.

Poltergeist- A Poltergeist is a spirit or sometimes disembodied energy. They are much like ghosts except they are more destructive and are most known for throwing rocks and dirt. They are usually found in homes and buildings.

Possession - A persons body, spirit, and conscience being taken over by a ghost, demon, or other entities.

Pseudopod- An ectoplasmic hand and/or arm from the early seance days.

Psychokinesis(PK) - Objects being manipulated from afar either happening suddenly or on purpose by someone with this paranormal ability.

Reincarnation- The spirit of a deceased person being reborn into another body to live a new life.

Revenant - Another name for a ghost, used long ago and is rarely used today.

Shadow People - These entities are a deep black color and are can be in the form of a thick or misty cloud, but usually in the shape of a human. These are one of the rarest paranormal phenomena to be captured on photographs. Most of these ghosts are found in peoples homes and are evasive and sneaky in nature. Sometimes they even play pranks on people.

Soul - The non physical core of a living being that exists even after their body has died.

Spirit - Another name for soul or it can also be a paranormal force of some kind.

Spunkie- A Scottish ghost or goblin that is usually evil and likes to play tricks on travelers that are lost.

Vortex - A vortex is a form of paranormal energy in the shape of a whirlwind or cylinder. A popular belief is that they are some kind of portal or doorway between this world and the spirit world. Sometimes an orb that is moving very fast can look like a vortex when photographed. The most common color for a vortex to be is white.

Witching Hour- The time in which all paranormal activity is at it's strongest according to superstition which takes place at midnight during a full moon.

Zombie- The bodies of the deceased being reanimated by a sorcerer or other power that moves with mechanical like motions.

How to Tell If You're Dealing with a Ghost or a Demon

There are some pretty obvious differences between whether you are dealing with a ghost haunting and a demonic one. Let's start off with the basics.

A ghost is the spirit of a person that has passed away. They usually appear in a vague, shadowy or evanescent form, wandering among or haunting living persons. It is the trace left by a living person after they die. This spirit has somehow gotten stuck between this plane of existence and the next. It is thought to occur as a result of a death by traumatic, unusual or highly emotional circumstances.

A demon, on the other hand, was never alive. they are supernatural beings, that are created by the devil/Lucifer/Satan (whatever you want to call him) by manipulating a human soul into that of a purely evil creature. Not quite sure about how they get to Earth, but they reside in Hell, and come to Earth through many ways, such as summonings/rituals.

So, how do you know if you're dealing with a ghost or a demon?

Some characteristics of both of these types of hauntings can be pretty similar, so trying to figure out which type you are dealing with can be pretty tricky, but it is imperative to figure out which, especially if you are dealing with a demon.

Since there's no real way to confuse a residual ghost haunting with a demonic one, I'm going to skip right over that and move on to what is known as an intelligent haunting. An intelligent haunting is a case where you are dealing with a spirit that was once human. This spirit is just as aware of your presence as you are of it. In many cases the spirit will try to communicate with you. This can be done through knocks, disembodied voices and sometimes even through an apparition.

Normally, in this type of haunting the spirit needs or wants something from you. Possibly help crossing over, or contacting a still living relative. Sometimes, they may be curious as to why you are in their home. Remember, this was their space first. This type of human spirit is usually harmless, and merely trying to get a message across to you.

A demonic haunting is a completely different story all together. This spirit WANTS to cause you harm. They feed off of fear and negativity, and will create these feelings in order to obtain what they need. This creature will manifest itself in a variety of different ways, at first, possibly trying to make itself seem like it is no more than an intelligent human spirit.

But that's where the similarities end. These beings will sometimes appear to you as a dark figure, or sometimes a large, black dog ( ever hear of the Hounds of Hell?) One of the most common signs that your dealing with a demon is if the spirit growls at you. Normal, human entities do not do this. Also, you can experience sleep paralysis, violent sexual and non sexual attacks, migraine headaches, voices and moving objects.

Remember that demonic hauntings are not all that uncommon. It is logical to believe that there are millions of demons, and possibly even more. These are extremely territorial, clever, diabolical creatures with incredible intelligence. These beings are a bit insane, and figuring out how to manipulate or mentally unravel us is no challenge to them whatsoever. In fact, they enjoy it. After all, that is their goal.

So now you know how to tell if you are dealing with an intelligent human spirit, or a merciless demonic one. If you are dealing with a demonic presence, please contact your local religious leaders. Have your home exorcised or blessed. Do not just leave the home thinking that will rid you of the demon. It will follow you, and become increasingly more angry and violent.

Tower Hill Road, Cumberland, RI

Being from Rhode Island myself, I've always been fascinated by the stories I've heard about the hauntings of Tower Hill Road in nearby Cumberland, RI. Some of the accounts you are about to read came from close friends of mine sharing their personal experiences with me, as well as other experiences I've found on the internet.

Tower Hill Rd. is extremely dangerous to drive on, especially at night. The road itself is narrow and twisting with a lot of hills, and the deadliest curve.

Some of the more well known accounts of hauntings on this road include a little ghost girl sitting in front of what had once been her home, a young boy running with his dog, and a toddler innocently riding his tricycle. I don't know the story of the little girl or the boy with his dog. But the child on the tricycle was struck and killed by a car while he was out riding his trike. A guard rail now stands where the child was struck, to prevent any other accidents like this one.

There are also stories of people travelling this road experiencing feelings of being watched, and seeing a number of apparitions in the woods. These spirits are thought to be of those that have been killed in accidents on this deadly road. Another, stranger story, is that of the monkey man that was seen by a team of investigators. This is the only account of this creature that I've personally heard of.

A friend that knows I'm interested in the paranormal came to me once and told me that while visiting the cemetery on Tower Hill Road with a group of his friends they swore they had heard kids laughing in the woods. When they returned to their vehicle, they found children's hand prints all over the car. There were no children to be found in the area.

The History of the Winchester Mansion

I've been fascinated by the story of the Winchester Mansion for years. With it's unusual design, staircases leading to nowhere, and the tragedy filled life of Sarah Winchester, it's no secret why I find the story so intriguing. Here is just a brief look into the orgin of this strange, but magnificent home.

Sarah Pardee was born in September of 1839 to parents Leonard and Sarah Pardee of New Haven, Connecticut. As she got older Sarah was very well received at social events, and her natural beauty, despite her small stature made her very popular with the young men in town.

In 1862 Sarah married wealthy William Wirt Winchester, the son of a well known shirt manufacturer and business man in New Haven.

Four years later, in 1866, the couple had a little girl, Annie Pardee Winchester. Sadly, only nine days later, Annie passed away from a disease known as "marasmus", a children’s disease in which the body wastes away. Devastated by the loss of her child, Sarah withdrew herself from everything and everyone, and tetering on the edge of madness. After nearly a decade, Sarah started behaving like herself again.

However, the tragedy in poor Sarah's life didn't end there. On March 7 1871, William lost his life to Pulmonary Tuberculosis. His death, though tragic left the once again tragedy stricken Sarah
a very wealthy woman. Although her newfound wealth did nothing to ease her pain. She grieved deeply, bothfor the loss of her husband, as well as the death of her child.After speaking to a psychic medium, and believing that she had been contacted by William, Sara left her home in New Haven to start a new life for herself.

In 1884 Sara stopped the Santa Clara Valley , California.Here, she found a six room home under construction which belonged to a Dr. Caldwell. She entered into negotiations with him and soon convinced him to sell her the house and the 162 acres which it rested on.

Ceasing all of the original plans for the house, Sara started building her new home the way she saw fit. For the next 36 years, the house was built and rebuilt altered and changed and constructed and demolished one section of the house after another for the next 36 years. By 1906, the house had reached a towering 7 stories high.

That same year, tragedy stuck Sarah's life once again. The great San Fransisco Earthquake struck, and left sections of her home in ruins. After months of having the damage to her house repaired, Sara began to suspect that her house was haunted. Did she believe that they were the spirits of her late husband and lost child? Some believe so. In any case, the Winchester house had only two mirrors inside, because, Sarah said, the ghosts were afraid of them.

By the time of her death in September, 1922 the house had grown to include 148 rooms, 47 fireplaces, countless staircases that led to nowhere, closets that opened to blank walls; trap doors; double-back hallways; skylights that were located one above another; doors that opened to steep drops to the lawn below; and dozens of other oddities.

Why did she design the house this way? Sarah had believed that by having such an unusual house, that she could confuse any bad spirits that may have been dwelling in the mansion.

Today, the house has been declared a California Historical Landmark and is registered with the National Park Service as "a large, odd dwelling with an unknown number of rooms."

So is the Winchester Mansion really haunted? That's up to you to decide. Most would say that such a place must still harbor at least a few of the ghosts who came to reside there at the invitation of Sarah Winchester.

A number of strange events have been reported at the Winchester House for many years and they continue to be reported today. Dozens of psychics have visited the house over the years and most have come away convinced, or claim to be convinced, that spirits still wander the place. In addition to the ghost of Sarah Winchester, there have also been many other sightings throughout the years.

The Haunting of Summerwind

The Summerwind Mansion in northern Wisconsin had been planned for a summer get away place by its owner, Robert P. Lamont. Lamont, who would become the Secretary of Commerce for President Herbert Hoover, had a stressful job and a place at the edge of beautiful West Bay Lake was just what he needed…but was it?

The original buildings on the property consisted of a lodge and a few cabins overlooking the bay. In 1917, Lamont hired a famous architectural firm from Chicago to extensively renovate the lodge and enlarge it. The renovations were so extensive, that it took over two years for them to be completed.

In less than fifteen years of being a summer home, the Lamont family suddenly abandoned the property in the mid 1930’s leaving the beautiful house and all their possessions behind. It was around this time that stories of the hauntings began, however no specific tales still exist, save for one. Supposedly Robert Lamont had encountered a ghost in his kitchen and had taken two shots at it with his hand gun and this is what had caused the family to flee…

The house remained abandoned until 1941 when the Keefer family purchased the property. They restored the home, yet never took up full time residence in the home. When Mr. Keefer passed, Mrs. Keefer began to sell of pieces of the property, but never seemed to be able to get rid of the tract containing Summerwind. According to claims on Karl von Bober’s website, van Bober who was later directly involved with Summerwind claimed, “To my knowledge, there were at least five separate ownership transfers between 1941 and today’s current owner.” Von Bober claims that every owner had some disaster befell them, financial woes, mental illness or some other calamity.

Von Bober’s sister and her husband purchased the home and soon moved in with their six children. Ginger and her husband Arnold began to renovate and paint the home and the strange things began to happen almost immediately.

Arnold was painting a set of drawers that were built into a closet and as he pulled out one of the drawers he noticed a large empty space behind it. Upon looking behind it, he noticed that there was a fairly large space so he pulled out the drawers and was able to wiggle back to see what was there…and he came out screaming…there was a body stuffed behind the drawers! An old dried body!

According to von Bober, Ginger and Arnold didn’t think that any one would believe them, especially with the large numbers of ghost stories circulating about the house, so they left it there and told no one about it.

They began to see the figure of a woman floating back and forth near a set of French doors as they would eat dinner in the living room. Was this the ghost of the body behind the drawers?

It was after the discovery of the body that the activity in the home escalated. From disembodied voices to items in the home that would break, then would be found in working order only a short time later. Windows and doors would open and close themselves. One particular window refused to stay closed until it was nailed shut.

Before moving to Summerwind, Arnold and Ginger had purchased an organ for Arnold to play as a way to relax. Now that they were living at Summerwind, he became maniacal about his playing and as time went on, the music became more and more bizarre. He would play throughout the night and his bizarre behavior frightened his wife and children. Shortly thereafter, Arnold suffered a complete mental breakdown and Ginger attempted suicide.

Arnold received treatment for a long time with no signs of improvement. Ginger got well after she and the children moved in with her family. Eventually she divorced Arnold and married a man named George. But was Summerwind abandoned, yet again? No.

Because of the mental illness and tragic events that occurred at the end of their six month stay, Ginger had never told her family the full truth concerning what happened at the home. A few years later, much to Ginger’s shock and dismay, her father purchased the property!

Raymond von Bober became obsessed with finding the deed box of the original owner, Jonathan Carver. It was claimed that Carver had a claim to owning a large section of Wisconsin and supposedly had hidden the deed box somewhere in the house. During the search, Karl, Ginger and her new husband George went searching the house. George came upon the closet where years before Arnold had found the corpse.

Ginger screamed not to open it, but of course, they did. The corpse was gone! The corpse had been seen by two people just a few years before…so where did it go?

As Raymond had planned to open Summerwind as a restaurant, the family began to spend time on the property to restore it and ready it for opening. Curiously, they never stayed IN Summerwind, instead they chose to stay in an RV in the yard. May be some of the following events could explain it.

There was a lace curtain in one of the rooms near the kitchen. It was old, tattered and torn. Karl took it down and threw it into a fireplace where they were burning trash. The next morning, the scrap was back. He took it down and WATCHED it burn. The next morning it was back. This happened several more times before Ginger informed him that when she had lived in the house she would hang up the new curtains she had chosen, only to find them on the floor the next morning and the scrap would be hanging yet again!

The size of the house also seemed to change. Raymond would take measurements of the rooms and find out the next day that they were different than the ones he had just taken and were also different from the dimentions on the blueprints. Consecutive pictures taken only seconds apart would actually show the distortion of the size of the rooms!

Additionally, one of the windows in the master bedroom would not stay closed. Once, while Karl was staying on the property alone, he noticed the window open and closed it. He went outside to mow the lawn, only to look up and see that same window open again. He went back into the house and closed the window again.

The next morning it rained. Karl awoke and went into the house to work and the window was open again! He closed it and mopped up the rain that had come in. He moved into the hallway and began to sweep. As he moved down the hall he heard his name called. He couldn’t figure out where the voice was coming from, it called his name again, and as he moved through the house, he noticed that the window in the master bedroom was open yet again!

As he stood there looking confounded at the window, two gunshots rang out! He ran downstairs to the kitchen and was startled by the smell of fresh gunpowder. He looked around the house and there was no one else there. Karl turned and as he looked at basement door, he noticed two bullet holes! The oddest part was that these were two old holes that had been presumedly put in the door by the original owner, Robert Lamont who had supposedly seen a ghost in the kitchen and had taken two shots at it! As Karl was examining the door, he was hit by a cold blast of air. He took a step back and as he did a misty form began to take shape! Karl ran from the house and went straight home.

Soon after wards, they abandonded the project and Summerwind lay abandonded. Then, in 1988, Summerwind was struck by lightning and burned. All that was left was the stonework and chimneys of what was possibly one of the most haunted houses in America.
